Boiler Installation
Boiler installation across the DMV. Serving DC, Maryland, and Virginia from Suitland, MD.
A boiler that is properly installed and serviced can heat a house quietly for twenty years or more. One that was sized by eye and vented by habit will short cycle, cost more to run every month, and wear itself out early. The install is where most of that gets decided.
We install gas boilers across DC, Maryland, and Virginia, from first-time systems in a renovation to a hydronic loop going into a house that has never had one. Brandon holds the Master Plumber license, so the gas work, the venting, and the permits are handled by the same person doing the pipe.
Sizing comes before shopping
The single most common mistake in this trade is picking a boiler by the square footage of the house or by whatever was there before. Oversizing is not harmless. A boiler too large for the load fires briefly, satisfies the thermostat, shuts off, and repeats all day, which is hard on the unit and wasteful on the meter.
We work out the actual heat loss: what the walls and windows give up, how the house is laid out, what the radiators or baseboard can actually emit. Then we choose the unit that matches it.
- Heat-loss calculation before any unit gets specified
- Combi, system, and conventional boilers, with a plain explanation of which suits your house
- Gas line sizing and new supply runs where the load requires it
- Venting routed and terminated to code, condensate drainage included
- Permits pulled and the installation inspected
What to expect on the day
We like you to see what we see. If the trouble is a corroded fitting under the sink or a cracked section of drain line on the camera, we show it to you and explain what it means before anyone talks about fixing it. Then you get a price, and you decide. Nothing starts until you approve. Once the work is done, we run the water, check every connection we touched, and clean the area so it looks the way it did when we walked in. Big job or small, the order stays the same.
Whatever the job, you get one licensed Master Plumber from start to finish, an honest price before we begin, and a plumber who cleans up after himself. Ready to get it handled? Request a free quote or call us at any hour. Want to see the kind of work we do? Take a look at our recent projects.
Commissioning is part of the job
An installed boiler is not a finished boiler. We fill and purge the system, balance the loop, set the combustion, check the safety controls, and run it under load before we pack up. Then we walk you through the controls so you are not reading a manual in January.
You leave the day with the paperwork in hand: the permit, the commissioning record, and the manufacturer registration that keeps the warranty valid. That folder matters when you sell the house too.
- Combustion set and recorded, not left at factory default
- System purged, balanced, and run before we leave
- Warranty registration and permit paperwork handed over

Why the DMV calls Jackson Plumbing
Call most plumbing companies after hours and you get a recording, or a dispatcher who cannot tell you much. Call us at two in the morning and a real person answers, someone who can actually talk through what is happening. From there you get an honest arrival time, and once we are on site, a price you approve before any work begins. No surprise charges get added later.
Brandon runs the business on five values that each start with E, and two of them do most of the work on a job site. Education means learning the codes and the right way to do things instead of guessing. Execution means delivering what we promised, on time and done right. Put those together with honest recommendations and you get a plumber people across DC, Maryland, and Virginia call back and recommend to friends.
A job that fails inspection costs you twice: once for the work and again to have it torn out and redone. We avoid that by doing it right the first time. Jackson Plumbing is a licensed Master Plumber (PLM40000116), credentialed in Maryland (109495), Virginia (2710083375), and with WSSC (P-83640), ASSE certified, and A-rated by the BBB. Small repair or full replacement, the same licensed plumber handles your job from the first look to the final connection.
Quality over quantity is one of the values this shop runs on. Brandon will not rush a job to squeeze in another one, which gives him the time to do the work right the first time. And when something still needs attention later, we come back for it. Our reputation across the DMV was built one house at a time, and every return visit is part of keeping it.
Honest pricing, no hidden fees
Much of the work that keeps the business going comes from people who called once and then called again. That only happens if the first bill was fair. So the price comes before any work starts, and it is the number you pay. We also will not steer you to the expensive fix when a cheaper one does the job. If the honest answer is that your old shutoff valve just needs a new washer, that is the answer you get from us. A customer who got straight dealing the first time tends to stay a customer, and that matters more to us than any single invoice. Call (202) 840-1998 any time, or let us know what you need and Brandon will reach out.

What is the difference between a combi, a system, and a conventional boiler?
A combi makes heat and hot water on demand with no storage tank. A system boiler feeds a separate hot water cylinder. A conventional setup adds a feed tank, which is what many older homes here already have. Which one fits depends on your hot water demand and how many bathrooms run at once.
Why does the sizing matter so much?
An oversized boiler cycles on and off constantly instead of running steadily. That wastes fuel, wears the ignition and the pump, and leaves rooms unevenly heated. Sizing to a real heat-loss number is the difference between a quiet system and a noisy, expensive one.
Do I need a permit for a new boiler?
In most of the DMV, yes, and the work gets inspected. We pull the permit as part of the job and meet the inspector. It is not paperwork for its own sake: gas and venting are where mistakes hurt people.
Can I put a boiler in a house that has forced air now?
You can, and we have done it, but it is a bigger project because the distribution has to be built: radiators or baseboard, the loop, and the pipe routes through finished space. We will walk the house and tell you honestly what it involves before you commit.
How long does a boiler installation take?
A straight replacement in an accessible spot is usually a day. A first-time install, a fuel change, or a job that needs new gas and venting runs longer. We give you a real schedule up front and a price before we start.
