My shower goes scalding when someone flushes. Fixable?
Yes. That is the signature of an old two-handle or non-balanced valve. A pressure-balanced valve holds the mix steady regardless of what the rest of the house is doing, and it is code for new installs for exactly that reason.
Can you replace a shower valve without redoing the tile?

What is the difference between pressure-balanced and thermostatic?
