How do I know if I need a sump pump?
Water in the basement during heavy rain, damp floors, efflorescence on the walls, or a neighborhood where every house has one are all strong signs. We can assess your basement honestly, and if you do not need one we will say so.
What happens when the power goes out in a storm?
Without backup, the pump stops and water rises, which is how finished basements get ruined during the same storm that killed the power. A battery backup takes over automatically and pumps for hours.
How long do sump pumps last?
Roughly seven to ten years for a quality unit under normal duty. If yours is near that age, replacing it on your schedule beats discovering the failure mid-storm.
Where does the water go?
Through a discharge line that must carry it well away from the foundation. A discharge that dumps beside the wall just recirculates the problem. We route it properly.
Can you replace just the pump in my existing pit?
Yes, if the pit and discharge are sound we swap the pump and check valve and test the system, a straightforward job we do all the time.
